SportsTalk, October 30. French Sports Minister Amelie Udaya Castella condemned the attack on fans before the Marseille-Lyon match and stated that those responsible must be severely punished.
In the 10th round of the French Ligue 1, Marseille faced Lyon at home. Before the game, the bus where the Lyon team was riding was attacked by extreme fans. Lyon Coach Grosso was hit above the eye and needed more than 10 stitches. The game was postponed as a result, and the entire Lyon team has left Marseille.
French Sports Minister Amelie Udaya Castella said: “What happened before the Marseille-Lyon match is shocking. It is unacceptable and disgusting to see these images of hate, stupidity and denial of the values of football and sport. We must find those responsible immediately and punish them severely. Postponing the game is the right decision, it is for the sake of sporting fairness and it is what we must do Yes, we have to set a limit.”
