According to official NBA news, G League (also known as the Development League) referees Intae Hwang (male, South Korea) and Sha’Rae Mitchell (female, United States) will be promoted to the NBA and become full-time NBA referees.
Intae Hwang (temporary translation: Huang Rentai) became the first full-time Korean NBA referee in history. Previously, the NBA had a Korean American referee named Evan Scott.
According to NBA regulations, NBA referees with less than 4 years of experience will also play some G League games to gain sufficient experience in playing. Therefore, both Intae Hwang and Sha’Rae Mitchell will return to the NBA and G League this season.
